This series unearths God's hidden treasures amidst uncertainty.

The Teacher is Silent or is He

Father, I stand at the door and knock. Speak whatever you want to me, your son. I come in teachable mode, a new permanent mindset. A surrendered place of the heart. By choice, I submit to your invitation to quiet my soul, to snuggle into a peaceful resting place. Yet, my spirit is leaping in anticipation as I gaze into my Heavenly Father’s eyes. Intently, I wait to receive whatever you choose to impart at this moment.

As I listen, the rhythm of the surf washes layer after layer of unrest from my soul. Somehow, I sense the vastness of what my Heavenly Father has to share will be a journey, much like the waves took from across the ocean to arrive here. The intensity of my spirit is heightened with each tick of the clock.

Oh, how I long to be like the birds of the air which are gliding by so effortlessly, easily doing what they were created to do. The pelicans circle, then strategically dive for their daily sushi. There is a calming of the soul and a cleansing of the mind.

I choose relationship, time with my Father, instead of activity. There is a conscious surrendering of my agenda and the typical daily progression. I loosen the grip on today's to-do list, choosing instead to be refreshed and inspired by my God. Contented, I wait for my Heavenly Father to light my path.

In the quietness, the teacher of all teachers showed me that some of the most powerful lessons in life can be taught without spoken words.

Today I learned God’s silence teaches me in itself, and that time spent gazing into my Heavenly Father’s eyes is enough.
