God's Kindness Quest Series

Cleaned my car windows when they were salty and sandy

Painstakingly wiped every nook and cranny

​

Satisfied, I admired my efforts with a smirk

Next morning drove to work

​

The rising sun exposed remaining window grit

Puzzled and frustrated, can’t believe I missed it

​

Spiritually, God the Son shines light on what I consider clean

He invites me to see clearer, not to shame me or be mean

​

I’ve tried handmade remedies in attempts to cleanse my spiritual view

They never performed as promised, leaving stubborn residue

​

God’s Word cleanses the mind, every nook and cranny

It trumps homemade cleaners, even the ones from my granny

​

Scriptural truth washes away layers of dirt and grime

Ungodly ways of thinking and acting removed over time

​

Lord, make each nook and cranny of my mind squeaky clean

Sheen my heart with your love, a reflection of you to be seen

Prayer

James 5:16 (NLT), "... The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.​"

Lord, my attempts to master a godly lifestyle have failed miserably. My best self-cleaning remedies have fallen short. I have justified, become desensitized to, and perpetuated sin. Sometimes, I have involved others, tainting them as well. Many times I’ve followed the wrong leader, including my own desires. 

 

Thank you for revealing what I could not see. I bring to your Cross the sin and residue. Forgive and cleanse me from every defilement. Help me cooperate with you in the cleansing and healing process. Do for me what I cannot do for myself.

 

Today, I renew my commitment to your ways and standards. Teach me about purity and holiness through Scripture and Holy Spirit. Amen.
