Detective Perspective

God's Kindness Quest Series

I examine life under a magnifying glass, like a detective

Forgetting to look from God’s perspective

I fixate on problems and the detriment

Instead of seeking God for his help and discernment

I see an enemy fast approaching, with my back to the sea

God sees me, his child, no longer enslaved, forever free

I see giants and fear engaging the enemy

God sees me prospering in the land, celebrating the victory

I see myself alone, thrown into a fiery furnace

God sees me healthy, promoted, with a steadfast assurance

I see daunting fortress walls resembling Jericho

God sees the power of obedience when his trumpets blow

I see myself being persecuted, sentenced to the lions' den

God sees me safe, scribing miracles with a heavenly pen

I see myself falsely accused and unjustly found guilty

God sees me as commissioned, well-protected, and worthy

Misguided, I've been looking in the wrong direction

Turned my gaze toward God for his course correction

No longer need a magnifying glass or to be a detective

Trusting God to guide my steps, based on his perspective

Prayer

James 5:16 (NLT), "... The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results."

Lord, I was taught at an early age to problem-solve. I learned to evaluate a situation and implement an action plan to eradicate issues. Without you in the process, I leaned on my understanding, self-effort, and worldly principles. I repent for excluding you, not seeking wisdom from Scripture, and for not praying for guidance, direction, and instruction. Forgive me where I have built my life around earthly decisions and values. Teach me your heavenly ways. Renew my view to your perspective. Amen.
