A Godly Quote on a Post-It Note

God's Kindness Quest Series

While eating lunch, I wrote three words on a post-it note

A life-changing reminder of a godly quote

That night, scribed a post-it note to keep by my bed

Prayed I would be obedient to what it said

Awoke remembering how someone wronged me in the past

Read the note and forgave them, at long last

Scribbled an important message on a post-it note and placed it in my car

A visual reminder while traveling near or far

An angry driver weaved through traffic, potentially endangering someone

Read the note and prayed, God soften their heart toward everyone

Secured a post-it note to a shopping list before dashing out the door

Although what I wrote on it can’t be purchased in a store

At checkout, three times a shopping cart hit the back of my knee

Read the note and said, I’m in no hurry, please go before me

Strategically placed a motivating post-it note on the refrigerator

Been eating too much and regretting it later

Next morning, I berated myself after stepping on the scale

Read the note; forgave myself; today is a new start; I will prevail

Secured an inspiring post-it note on the bathroom mirror

Hoping it will make my reflection clearer

Gazed in the mirror, disappointed by who I see

Read the note and a tidal wave of God's grace tangibly engulfed me

What’s the godly quote which always prevails

Each post-it note displayed the same three words, “Love Never Fails”

Prayer

James 5:16 (NLT),  "... The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results."

Father God, love, as defined by you, was never modeled for me. I forgive those who taught me conditional love. Lord, I repent of falling short, of being unkind, impatient, selfish and self-centered. Forgive me for neglecting your most important instruction, to love you, others, and myself. I ask you to repair the damage I have done to others because of my unloving actions. Show me how to cooperate with you for the restoration of relationships. Give me the courage to apologize quickly when I fall into old, unloving habits.

Teach me to love as outlined in 1 Corinthians 13. May my words, actions, and thoughts be saturated with divine love.

Father God, help me see people through your eyes, hear them as you do, have your heart for them, and speak as you would. Empower me to be a life-changing vessel of your love. Amen.

Scripture

2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT), "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true ..."

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 (NIV)

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
