Victim Mentality or Kingdom Reality

God's Kindness Quest Series

Contemplated a question while walking home

It inspired the following poem

Have I ever viewed myself as a victim

Rather than a child of Father God’s Kingdom

Reflected upon a time I adopted a victim mentality

A victim mindset and focus birthed it into reality

Back then, victim memories livestreamed 24-7 in my mind

It was like watching a video, stuck on play and rewind

Till one day God intervened and the video ejected

He told me, I've been leaving my mind unprotected

The path to my future is intricately intertwined

With the images which frequent my mind

Victim thoughts are convoluting my identity

Detouring me from my Kingdom destiny

God nudged me to start reading the Bible

I learned if I follow him, all things are possible

God's truth penetrated deeper with each page I read

Scripture renewed my mind, even while asleep in bed

Regarding a victim mindset, or any topic from “A to Z”

I need biblical truth and wisdom to walk in my true identity

Believed I was doomed to endure life as a victim

Now I am fully empowered by the King, a child in his Kingdom

Prayer

James 5:16 (NLT),  "... The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results."

Lord, I repent for allowing the challenges of life to instill in me a hopelessness and powerlessness, which have fed a victim mentality. I forgive those who treated me unjustly and ask you to cleanse my heart. I give you old ways of thinking and acting, which keep me bound to a victim mentality. Forgive me for ways I’ve blamed you or others for not protecting me.

I’ve focused on negative circumstances, forgetting you are more powerful than life’s challenges. Rescue me from the whirlwind of a victim mentality. I receive your cleansing, blessings, and favor. Light my path forward and help me keep my eyes on you.

Ignite an unquenchable fire to spend time in the Word. Give me an understanding of how praying Scripture powerfully affects the spirit realm. Amen.
