Prayer

James 5:16 (NLT),  "... The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results."

Lord, thank you for helping me identify areas in my life which need touched or adjusted. I bring all of what has been identified in this time with you to the Cross. I ask for your forgiveness and cleansing, and the benefit of lasting freedom.

Lord, give me ears to hear your heart and help me respond without doubt or fear. Forgive me for making our communication a monologue, rather than a dialogue, being quick to speak and slow to listen.

Thank you for never being too busy for me, whether the issues are big or small. Nothing escapes your gaze. My desire is to live daily life with you, sharing more than just my life’s troubles. Help me ask you lots of questions, granting me the grace, patience, and humility to live out your answers.

Forgive me for searching for what I already have . . . a good and faithful Heavenly Father, a Friend and Savior in Jesus, and a true comforter in Holy Spirit. I repent of and reject the counterfeit comforts I’ve used to fill the void in my heart. I lay those coping mechanisms and the pain of life’s traumatic and disappointing events at the Cross. Wash me clean and fill me with your love and comfort.

Thank you for drawing me to your heart and into your Kingdom, where I am no longer an orphan. I belong. Because I am your child, I no longer need to prove my value and worth. I release myself from performing for love, acceptance, and approval. I bring comparison, competition, and my grading system to death on the Cross. Where I have been compared to others, I forgive those who have done the comparing. Where I have compared myself to others and graded myself as inferior or superior, I repent. Where I have compared you, Father God, to my earthly father and judged you to be like him in his shortcomings, I repent. This mode of operation brought distortion to my view of others, myself and you. Lord, forgive me. I choose to move from a mindset of needing to prove my value and worth into a place of believing what you say about me.

I bring to you all of what still feels unhealed, along with the times I have felt unheard. I invite you to touch those places, bringing me out of the bondage of pain and shame.

Lord, where you lead me, my intention is to follow you all the days of my life. I submit to your ways, including your timeframes. Grant me clarity of vision and purpose, helping me in areas of weakness. Help me respond with steadiness and resolve, remaining in godly inner peace, whether in turbulent or celebratory seasons.

I decree, declare and believe, Father God, you are greater than my brokenness and sin. So, to you and your ways, I’m pressin’ in. Amen.
