Bullies in the Land

God's Kindness Quest Series

The story of David and Goliath illustrates what lies ahead

We will encounter giants in the land our feet tread

Bullying giants thrive by taunting day and night

Daring anyone to arise and fight

They intimidate till mighty warriors cower in fright

Seasoned troops, afraid to overcome their plight

Paralyzed by fear, unwilling to engage in battles

Warrior horses stand idle, with empty saddles

Soldiers equipped with powerful weapons of many kinds

Yet they lost the war in their minds

The giants we face may look different today

However, bullying spirits still manifest in a similar way

The usual weapons of choice, control and manipulation

The silent treatment or berating, their typical communication

A boss, managing by intimidation and fear

Retribution and retaliation are tactics they hold dear

Self-serving agendas, wielding perceived power

Ruthlessly adding casualties every waking hour

Bullies can rule territories, cities, or nations

God knows which weapons to use in all situations

The battle is the Lord's, so draw near

Listen for his personalized instructions, without fear

Regardless of which bullies you face today

God promises to help those who seek him and pray

You are not powerless to the bullies in the land

Use the sling and stone the Lord places in your hand

Prayer

James 5:16 (NLT),  "... The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results."

Lord, in the past I have felt unprotected, trapped, fearful, and intimated by bullies. I also have bullied or manipulated others to do what I wanted them to do. I give you the bullying mess, including the anger, fear, aggression, torment and regret. I give you all the times I’ve replayed those memories in my mind. I forgive those who bullied me and ask you to forgive me for my ungodly behavior. In the name of Jesus Christ, I break partnership with bullying at every level.

Father God, I face current life challenges which need your wisdom and instruction. Teach me how to respond when confronted by people who intimidate and manipulate. I give you old patterns of thinking and acting, which hinder me from moving forward on your path.

Thank you for your empowerment instead of a spirit of fear. Forgive me for times I forgot you are bigger and more powerful than the giants I face. Teach me heavenly warfare and how to apply it on earth. Amen.

Scripture

2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT), "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true ..."

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NLT)

"A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere."
